1940's Mouton Fur Flared Back Short Coat 7-410

This sturdy fur jacket/coat can be worn casually with jeans or dressy with skirts and dresses. According to Wikipedia, "Mouton fur is sheepskin which has been processed to resemble beaver or seal fur. Mouton is 'sheep' in French. Mouton fur refers to lamb hair which has straightened, chemically treated, and thermally set to produce a moisture repellent finish. Mouton is often dyed brown to resemble Beaver..." The color of this coat is variegated taupe, nutmeg and dark ecru. It has a 1 1/2" band collar. It’s main design feature is dramatic full bell sleeves. One of the sleeves in the image was stuffed with tissue paper to show its fullness better. The back is flared at the bottom. 3" wide cuffs; medium shoulder pads. It closes with three brown fur hooks and circle eyes. The lining is dark cinnamon colored rayon crepe. Lining shoulder straps allow the coat to be worn open over the shoulders. Measurements: 44" bust; 17" underarm sleeve length; 9" inside measurement of cuff; 16 1/2" upper mid back sleeve seam to sleeve seam width; 56" bottom circumference. Remember to allow about 4" of ease beyond your actual measurements so the coat will fit properly over your clothes.
