1980's Julie Francis Floral Print Silk Over Blouse 8-133
New York designer Julie Francis came to national attention as one of the designers favored by Mrs. Kitty Dukakis when her husband was running for President. Julie Francis clothing retailed at that time from $300 to $1,000. This silk blouse is an excellent example of her detailed practical designs for sophisticated executive women. The designer said: "Our silks do not wrinkle and they travel well."
It has a small scale over all cream, gray and black stylized abstract floral design with a vertical thin iridescent gold line. The high round neckline closes with a snap. The front closes with six black buttons hidden under a placket. The long sleeves have a slightly dropped shoulder line; large shoulder pads. There are 3" wide cuffs which close with half domed 1/2" diameter gold colored metal buttons. The blouse has a slight blouson effect with a 4" wide bottom band which wraps across 5" to fasten with three more gold buttons which match those on the sleeves. The back of the band is lightly elasticized. Label: Julie Francis, 4, Dry Clean Only, 100% Silk, Made in Korea.
