RARE 1910's Lustrous Black Belted Plush Coat 8-402

This lustrous black plush flared museum quality coat evokes images of the suffragettes. We wish we knew the background of this marvelous find; you can invent your own story of how it made its way to south central Idaho when the irrigation tracts were being established. The fabric appears to be cotton based. The 7" wide collar in back narrows in front to form a high shawl collar. The front closes with three braided loops over 2" wide slightly domed self covered buttons. The two part curved sleeves have 3" wide cuffs. A 2" wide, 43" long belt is tacked at each side seam and closes in front with a braided loop over a 1 3/4" diameter self covered button. The back has three panels. The shoulders have the relatively narrow fitted shoulders of the time period. The lining is deep gold heavy weight cotton sateen There is a hidden 4" square pocket on the inner left coat lining.

Excellent condition.
The coat is in remarkably good condition for being at least 95 years old. It has been bulk dry cleaned. The lining is in excellent condition but there is some color variation which will probably be diminished if brought to the attention of a dry cleaner.

Size: Medium/Large - 10-14. Please note narrow shoulder measurement.
Measurements: 44" bust; 46" waist; 17" sleeve length including cuff measured from underarm seam; 13" upper mid back sleeve seam to sleeve seam width; 36" mid back length; 64" bottom circumference. Remember to allow about 4" of ease beyond your actual measurements so the coat will fit properly over your clothes.
