1900's Sheer Blouse with Hand Worked Embroidery 9-112

This early 1900's waist (blouse) made of sheer cotton batiste has lots of hand worked detail. The top of the 2" wide neck band is edged with tatting above a 1/2" wide double row of tatted insertion and three rows of white feather stitching embroidery. The 1 1/2" wide tucks on the dropped shouldered are also edged with tatting and feather stitching. The long sleeves have 1/2" wide cuffs edged with tatting, tatted insertion and feather stitching. On the upper bodice are three crocheted medallions with the fabric cut away from the back. The middle one is 3" in diameter, with a 1 1/2" diameter one on each side. Embroidered bows with streamers are embroidered in white below each one. The front and back are cut in one piece. There are no shoulder seams, so the back ends up being on the bias for easy fit. The back placket closes with ten 1/3" diameter thread covered buttons. It is a bit longer in front to allow for pigeon front effect popular at the time.
