1890's Victorian Silk Petals Skirt with Attached Petticoat 9-116

Wear this sumptuous skirt for very special occasions or use for display. This sumptuous skirt is made of a black silk novelty fabric. 1/2" wide rows of shear "petals" have a double row of lustrous black thread between each. We don't see how it could have been made by machine. The gored skirt has a modified elongated trumpet bell shape, skimming the hips to widen at the hemline. The front has what appears to be darts, but turn into tapered gores, three in front and four gores in back. The cotton sateen underskirt is attached at the 1 1/4" wide cotton sateen waistband. 3/4" wide black silk gathered ribbon are at the top of the first 5" wide bottom skirt flounce and the bottom 6" flounce and on the skirt bottom. Below the mid back hook and eye placket is an unpressed pleat to provide back interest. The large image shows that the skirt is slightly longer in back.
