Dating this unique complicated dress was a puzzle. After much study we finally settled on 1923-1924 because of the silhouette with a fitted top and tiered skirt, the fabric, the construction methods, and the mid calf length. It is made of four different fabrics: black cotton lace, light ecru colored silk crepe, and rust colored rayon taffeta. The under dress is made of black rayon twill. The bodice with a dropped waist has a 9" long collar across the back neck which tapers to a 4" wide shallow V pointed collar of black lace over light ecru silk.
